In this house…
- We obey our Lord Jesus Christ.
- We love, honor and pray for one another.
- We tell the truth.
- We consider one another’s interest ahead of our own.
- We speak quietly and respectfully with one another.
- We do not hurt one another with unkind words or deeds.
- When someone needs correction, we correct him in love.
- When someone is sorry, we forgive him.
- When someone is sad, we comfort him.
- When someone is happy, we rejoice with him
- When we have something nice to share, we share it.
- When we have work to do, we do it without complaining.
- We take good care of everything God has given us.
- We do not create unnecessary work for others.
- When we open something, we close it.
- When we turn something on, we turn it off.
- When we take something out, we put it away.
- When we make a mess, we clean it up.
- When we do not know what to do, we ask.
- When we go out, we act just as if we were here.
- When we disobey or forget any of the rules of this house, we accept the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Ecclesiastes 10:18 “By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through.”
Job 1:5 “And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.”

Temptations
1 Chronicles 4:10 “And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.”
A recent survey of Discipleship Journal readers ranked areas of greatest spiritual challenge to them:
1. Materialism.
2. Pride.
3. Self-centeredness.
4. Laziness.
5. (Tie) Anger/Bitterness.
5. (Tie) Sexual Lust.
7. Envy.
8. Gluttony.
9. Lying.

Resisting temptation was accomplished by prayer (84 percent), avoiding compromising situations (76 percent), Bible study (66 percent), and being accountable to someone (52 percent).

1 Corinthians 10:13 “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
Victory
1. Abraham, refusing a reward for service rendered: Genesis 14:23 That I will not take from a thread even to a shoe latchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:

2. The Rechabites and Daniel, by refusing wine: Jeremiah 35:5-6 And I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites pots full of wine, and cups, and I said unto them, Drink ye wine. But they said, We will drink no wine: for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine, neither ye, nor your sons for ever:
Daniel 1:8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
3. Peter, by refusing a bribe: Acts 8:20-21 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
