Pastoral Promises
from W. R. Boehm
from W. R. Boehm
I will faithfully teach you the Word of God… The apostle Peter said, [1 Peter 2:2] “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:” There is no substitute for systematic, verse by verse Bible teaching.
I will do everything possible to strengthen your marriage and your family against the destructive pressures of the culture in which we live… [Phil. 2:15]
I will vigorously oppose the division producing carnality that plagues so many churches. We will not have gossip, back biting, or anything else that will divide us as a congregation and neutralize our witness for Christ. [2 Cor. 12:20]
I will strongly encourage small group participation that makes for accountability and personal spiritual growth. [Heb. 3:13]
I will encourage whatever use of our resources necessary to adequately minister to your children. [Matt. 19:14]
I will give myself to the practice and teaching of moral purity – especially among our men. We will have men’s breakfast, Bible study, and one on one, discipleship …all geared to protecting us from the sexual cesspool that is thrown in our faces every day. [1 Thes. 4:3-7]
I will seek to win the lost of this community and disciple them in a manner consistent with the New Testament. Although my sermons will be “topical and expository” (verse by verse explanation of Scripture) there will be a regular challenge to receive Christ. [2 Tim 4:5]
I will strongly emphasize foreign missions that we may obey the mandate of the Great Commission to go into all the world. (Matt. 28:18-20)
I will lead our congregation in honoring our women as given to us as special instruments of God’s mercy. I will do everything possible to elevate them and facilitate the special role to which they have been called in the body of Christ and in the home. [Prov. 31, Titus 2]
I promise to provide a safe environment for you to bring family and friends with no embarrassing appeals for funds. We will be committed to excellence at all times. [Col 3:23]
I promise to challenge and train our members into regular service and fruitful ministry that we might bless God and each other. [1 Thes. 5:11]
